The acquisition of the contact lens supplier is expected to support the growth of specialist lens adoption across the Nordic countries in Europe
CooperVision has acquired EnsEyes, a supplier of orthokeratology (ortho-k) and scleral contact lenses in the Nordic region. EnsEyes has headquarters in Denmark and worked with customers across Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. The acquisition is expected to help accelerate the growth of speciality lens adoption across Europe’s Nordic countries. The company will operate within the CooperVision Specialty EyeCare group, which includes brands such as No7 Contact Lenses, Blanchard, GP Specialists, Paragon, Procornea, and Soflex. Juan Carlos Aragón, OD, president of CooperVision Specialty EyeCare, explained: “We have collaborated with EnsEyes for years, including its use of MyProcornea for lens ordering.” Aragón suggested that joining CooperVision will give EnsEyes “more resources for growth, further build the expertise of our organisation, and support eye care professionals’ soaring enthusiasm for specialty fitting.” EnsEyes founder and optometrist, Esben Nørregaard Sørensen, a former executive at CooperVision, will remain within the company. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition marks the latest in a number of agreements CooperVision has made in the past year, including a deal which saw No7 Contact Lenses join the CooperVision Specialty EyeCare group, and a partnership with EssilorLuxottica for the acquisition of SightGlass Vision.
