Episode 3 of Hawkeye has made an explosive landing on Disney+ with an energetic installment for Marvel fans to soak up. Up ahead, we explore if Kate Bishop actor, Hailee Steinfeld, is wearing contact lenses for the role.
Another Wednesday means another slice of festive fun from Hawkeye is on the table and episode 3 did not disappoint.
We may still have a long wait ahead until Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova shows up, but at least we got some slick action and a deeper look at Alaqua Cox’s Echo.
Yes, Hailee Steinfeld does wear blue/grey contact lenses in the Hawkeye series.
Many fans have pointed out on social media that Steinfeld was wearing contacts, even back when behind-the-scenes photos of the show were emerging.
While the fandom isn’t completely on-board with this decision, there is a simple reason why Steinfeld is wearing contacts.
Yes, the young archer and avenger, Kate Bishop, does have blue eyes in Marvel comics.
However, this may not be the only reason why Steinfeld is wearing contacts in the show.
The fact that Kate’s mother, Eleanor, has lighter eyes as well as her father, Derek, indicates that Marvel perhaps wanted Kate’s live-action eye color to be genetically accurate instead of just comic book accurate.
Actors Vera Farmiga and Brian d’Arcy James, who play Eleanor and Derek Bishop in the series, both have naturally light eye colors, therefore, it would make sense if Steinfeld had the same.

Hailee Steinfeld’s natural eye color is a light brown or hazel, which is why fans of the actor were quick to notice her lighter eyes in the show.
Many actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe carry different eye colors to their comic book counterparts and this decision usually comes down to creative preference.
Jon Favreau opted to keep Robert Downey Jr.’s natural brown eyes in favor of Tony Stark’s blue eyes, and the same goes for Brie Larson and her portrayal of Captain Marvel.
